Who Should Pay For Rebuilding Houston

So they’re talking about the cost, in many billions, of rebuilding Houston, and I think that a bill for that money should be sent to the out of control developers who over-developed the area, who made the dangerous floodplains even more dangerous than they would have been, by endlessly building over the wetlands that were there; developers who kept on long past common sense, destroying important and beautiful swamplands that would have moderated the floodwaters…

And I think a very large bill should be sent to the vast oil industry installations sprawled on the outskirts of Houston, also flattening and ruining wetlands, as well as helping create catastrophic climate change, which is making extreme weather more likely. While hurricanes are relatively normal in the area, this one is hanging around, like swelling water in a plugged toilet, and dumping endless rain because of a meteorological vicious circle: a heated seawater situation, caused by global warming, which is in turn caused by industry dumping carbon in the atmosphere…
