End o’ World states of Mind(lessness)

Recurrent end of the world scenarios could represent two levels of anxiety working together; 1, the anxiety about everyone’s personal apocalypse: ordinary mortality. 2, whenever the world seems to lose interior logic, systems fail (the black plague arrives, world wars, quakes, swift social changes), a consensus panic–a contagious anxiety–arises from a perceived threat to whatever community we identify with.
