I try to feel the Moon

Can’t see the “super-moon”. Big moon–closest to the Earth tonight. Hidden behind the rain clouds. Moon is AWOL. But it being so close, and people being so insistent on the influence of planetary bodies on our lives, our selves, and of the supposed influence of the full moon, by God I ought to feel it. All my transparent, unseen antennae are quivering. I try to feel the moon.

I was always fascinated by the fact that the light from the moon is reflected from the sun and this means that it had to strike the moon and then be somewhat absorbed and CHANGED by the moon’s surface before being emanated toward us again. It is sunlight transmogrified by interaction with the stark surface of this dead and yet significant body.
