Is It Possible We’re Always lying to ourselves?

Just a hypothesis, if you like: Everyone lies to themselves, though not consciously; everyone creates a false identity (mostly unconsciously but not entirely), and works hard to stay comfortable behind it; they adjust their conception of reality to serve the process of creating a woolen wall of comfort.

Some few however, are aware of self lying, and this awareness eventually makes it possible for them to become inwardly free, so they can shift from their external false identity to something realer when they choose to, though often maintaining some version of the false identity, outwardly, to comfort people around them.
