It smacks of desperation, don't it though, for researchers to begin claiming ET's might consider us a threat due to our greenhouse gas emissions? But then again this points back full circle to ourselves: after all, evidence is mounting that we indeed arrived here from the icy core(s) of meteors (re: panspermia).

Speaking of moot points, agreed with JS: are we not destroying ourselves at a more rapid pace than any extraterrestrial civilization could possibly have time to achieve ? Seems more sensible that they'd merely *allow our planet to be destroyed*, and either chuckle sadly or LOL hysterically, depending on their individual sensibilities. It seems more likely (if such an alleged civilization were advanced enough) that we'd be a classic "example" for their schoolchildren, to learn precisely what to avoid doing to their *own world*.

But I'm the sort of guy who almost believes that we ARE the so-called 'alien'/ETs, ourselves. That we *might as well be*: For why *shouldn't* the DNA of which we are parts, be spread across the entire universe? It is a distinct possibility . . .

Agreed on the Diamond Star... could be the subject of a new thrilling science fiction tale in the mode of Delany's NOVA...

The Diamond Planet (or as I call it, Planet Bling) is clear evidence that the Magratheans really did exist, and not as Ford Prefect said: "Magrathea is a myth, a faery story! It's what parents tell their children about at night when they want them to grow up to become economists!"
